17 weeks and going strong!
So we've reached 17 weeks! At 4 months and 1 week I am feeling great pregnancy-wise. I'm not sick at all, pretty much fully recovered from an inflamed disc in my back (poor posture while doing homework + loosened joints due to relaxin being released = pain). My only aversion so far is gum (weird, I know; I used to chew CONSTANTLY - on a bad day, I'd chew a pack a day). I'm not sad about this aversion, especially because I can force myself to chew if my mouth tastes like butt or something. Anyway, I'm still impatient, but psycho-chick hasn't emerged for quite sometime. When I don't get enough sleep I'm crabby, but that's normal. I don't need naps or anything still. I pee a lot, but that's normal. Still working out 5 days a week with running, walking, etc. Haven't had any murder dreams in a while (thank goodness). So overall, baby-growing life is sweeeet.
At this 17th week, our tiny Thurner is the size of an onion! Baby's little skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it (we know it's been accumulating around mommy for quite some time, thankyouverymuch). The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.
As far as school - HA. Well, let's just say I'll graduate with my Masters in Occupational Therapy in 1 month and 29 days. It'll will be a terrible 2 months, but I'll survive. I just had 2 days of fieldwork - one at Children's hospital in Minneapolis and one in a Rochester school district. I absolutely LOVED Children's and came to realize that my niche is really inpatient, acute care. Working with the kids and babies (and their families for that matter) was phenomenal - I felt like I learned so much, and it's an area where you'd continue to grow and learn no matter how long you're there. Also, you're doing things that only an OT can do - a big plus after working so hard to become one!
P.S. Sadly, I did not win the scarecrow contest. It must have been rigged.
still so cute and skinny- you suck, you can hardly tell, at 13 weeks with me, I was like wth happened I turned into a balloon, but everyone feels that way I hear! well you look WONDERFUL and i see you are still fitting into your own jeans, yeah that pretty much ended the day I found out..ugh! take care and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOh Heidi - how you boost one's confidence! Thanks for the great compliment, but UGH I feel like a balloon myself! And yes, my legs can fit in some of my old jeans (definitely not all)... but if you think I'm not wearing a belly band to keep those suckers up, you're dead wrong. Thanks again though! And little miss Kyleigh is growing so fast... how's motherhood??
ReplyDeleteEmily ~I will have to 2nd Heidi's comment that you look absolutely wonderful!! And 17 weeks already? That is sooo exciting! Soon you'll have an ultrasound and begin to feel baby's movement, if you haven't already! I didn't feel any movement until at least 20 weeks, but some feel it earlier. It is AMAZING! Keep the updates coming - I am loving reaading your perspective of pregnancy now that I have experienced it myself!!
